Let velvet voices guide you through the Melbourne night, swinging saxophones lighten your soul, and tinkling pianos warm your heart. Don’t miss the Melbourne International Jazz Festival! The Festival is on from 4-13 June 2011 and has a program packed with musicians – from newcomers to veterans. Sonny Rollins, the Sun Ra Akestra, Tex Perkins, and Norma Winstone are just some of the names rolling into town.
The Melbourne International Jazz Festival is full of free events, many in Federation Square, including Sonic Showers (starting the day with group singing) and the Big Jam (bring your instrument and join in the fun). The Festival will even feature “The Cave” in the mysterious Kelvin Club. The Kelvin Club is one of Melbourne’s exclusive clubs and entry is usually restricted to members and their guests. The Cave promises to shake up the Club late into the night. I plan to be there to witness that! You can register for priority entry on the Festival’s website: http://www.melbournejazz.com

I enjoyed the 10 piece jazz band @ the Kelvin Club.
Me too! The Cave was so much fun last night! The band was swinging and the dance floor packed!
