Tran Tran is one of my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne. It is Vietnamese food at its best: light and healthy. The greens are so fresh that I expect them to walk off my plate. The whole flounder steamed with ginger and onion is a real treat. You will leave feeling full but not heavy.
Tran Tran renovated a few years ago and when the ceiling was removed, the owners discovered the wooden beams of a chapel. So, don’t forget to look up while you are waiting for your food to arrive (which will not be long at all). The whole restaurant is light and airy, and on balmy nights the front windows are open. The wall plaques are in keeping with the renovated building. One of them reads “anybody can make you enjoy the first bite of a dish, but only a real chef can make you enjoy the last.” Absolutely!
Tran Tran is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week.
