Cosy & comfortable, great wine list, delicious food, and open til very late. What more do you need from a wine bar and restaurant? My most recent meal at Punch Lane was an absolute treat. I ate scallops for main. I savoured each scallop (they were so good they were melting in my mouth). Hubby enjoyed his lamb with quinoa. We were both pleasantly surprised by the side dishes of cauliflower and broccolini. Side dishes of vegetables are so often neglected by chefs, but not here. I indulged in the rhubarb and custard tart for dessert. Yum! What to drink? Unless you are a wine buff, I suggest you seek expert advice from the staff. A riesling was suggested to me. I don’t normally drink riesling, but they were right. It went perfectly with my meal.
Mains are $30-$40. If you have an Entertainment card, you can use it here. Alternatively, if you have the luxury of lunching on weekdays, try the Express Lunch. It is good value at $35 for 2 courses, a glass of wine and tea/coffee. Punch Lane is open 7 days a week until about midnight. It is not open on weekends for lunch. It is just a hop, skip and jump from Princess Theatre, so is a great place to go before or after the show.
