Chokolait is chocolate heaven. When the world feels overwhelming, I flop onto one of Chokolait’s couches. The café is small, and the biggest challenge can be finding a seat and a clean table, but even if you have to wait, it is worth it. The chocolates are sensational, and if I was a poet (and you will be relieved to hear I am not), I would write poetry about Chokolait’s hot chocolates, iced chocolates, chocolate mousse…oh, and their glace orange chocolates. This is a family owned and run business. Ross, the owner and chocolatier, is an absolute perfectionist. He only uses the best Belgian chocolate for his creations. Can I nominate him for one of those government awards for his services to the community of Melburnian chocolate lovers?
You can sit peacefully at Chokolait and read one of their magazines without being interrupted. Perfect for a mental health moment! Chokolait is hidden away in the Hub Arcade. Enter the Hub Arcade from Little Collins Street. Alternatively, enter the Royal Arcade from the Bourke Street mall, and then walk downstairs into the Hub Arcade. Open 9am-6pm Monday-Thursday, 9am-9pm Friday, 9.30am-6pm Saturday and 10am-6pm Sunday. Prices are reasonable. You can buy chocolates to take away as a gift (or for yourself!) and you can order cakes.
